Tuesday's Comedy
Posted by Hairy Chris on Thu, 12 Jun 2003 12:23pm

Against a backdrop of threats of violence, disorganization and general chaos, the H&A gig (or at least the 25 mins we were playing) was a great success. To everyone who came down & supported us, You Rule! The atmosphere was great and that was down to you guys!

Additional mentions to: Leevil, Gary (otherwise it would have never happened), Nebukadnezzer for the original invite, Flea + Maaaaario + Andy (Lozek) + Tam's mate (oops! memory like a goldfish!) for photos & video, and the whole Alienistic crew for what happened after I left. From what I hear it was a good job I baled when I did.

Weird. Definately weird.

Got a phone call on Saturday. Mario, the International Man of Mystery, has made his way back to these shores! After 3 years away from Brasil, he had rather a lot to sort out. Hopefully he'll be down on Tuesday so we can all say hello...

On that subject, we're almost ready for the Hope & Anchor gig tomorrow. The last rehearsal was ok-ish (some part better then others!) but at least we now know a) what we're doing and b) what we're taking to the venue. The one thing that does seem to be sorted is a large amount of ringers in the audience. If we put on a crap show, we'll never be able to show our faces again.

June... Already...? Oh no....
Posted by Hairy Chris on Mon, 2 Jun 2003 1:56pm

Yeah, if you are like me and have no idea where this year has gone, then join the club.

We're about a week away from the Hope & Anchor gig, so will be rehearsing hard on Tuesday & Thursday. Go on, come down, you know you want to. It should be a laugh. On stage 8:15 so you can be at home & in bed by 10!

What else is up? Um, Wes was working at Download in the Toxico tent, so no doubt I'll get the story tomorrow. Tonight is the Deftones in Brixton. I was too drunk to remember their last show, so I'll see what this is like. Upcoming shows also include Mastadon, Tomahawk, Unearth and Ministry (again) so July should be fun. Tam's been on the piss, Steve is becoming the new man of mystery, and Richie's still not got the sack from his new job which means that life in the FoUR camp is pretty much the same as usual...

Bloody Hell! 2 posts in a week!
Posted by Hairy Chris on Fri, 23 May 2003 6:05pm

OK... As we've got a nice long weekend, what I don't spend in the pub will be spent updating the remaining sections on the site. Also look out for:

Flyers - I'll get some copied up. Jpeg is on the 'gigs' page.
Riffs - We've added some to the new tune. According to Tam it's our 'art' piece. It's now officially the strangest thing we've done.
Events - FoUR vs Leevil at some point. Nice.
Side Projects - Tam blew P.I.T.T out. Oops!! Possible Inner Rage collaboration.

March of the Idiots
Posted by Hairy Chris on Mon, 19 May 2003 6:08pm

Hello again. I don't know why I write all this crap as I'm not sure that too many people read it. I think that it may be theraputic, but don't quote me on that.

Anyway, we've achieved sod all since I last posted. Played a couple of rehearsals, but we're still a bit stuck w.r.t. songwriting. I've come up with a few ideas last weekend so I'll see how they fit. First proper practice at home in ages! Oops. I seem to have a bunch of random riffs in F#, G and B so that makes a change from E minor for everything....

Finally, I'm attempting to work on the site. I have a vague biog, will update the gigs & other pages but we appear to have lost the FTP passwords. More later...

Have fun!

UPDATE!! Recoil, the god amongst men, has sorted me out! Biog now updated, more to follow!
21/5 Updated contacts section. A bit.

We're multiplying! Quick. Call the police.

Personnel news.... With the continuing absence of Mario, we're welcoming Steve (Tidalmind) into the 4 family as a kind of permanent stand-in. This allows us to write with a purpose, and also arrange gigging & recording commitments.

We've already gigged with him - he's a man with a plan & doesn't take any crap (from us, especially) so we're looking at constructive times! His day job, so to speak, is still Tidalmind, but playing with the idiot metal cousins seems to appeal to his sense of humour....

One further thing, Tam will be playing bass on a stand in basis for the SA metal band P.I.T.T.. This I *have* to see! ;-) All we need now is for Richie to join a reformed Nirvana, Wes to duet with Danii Minogue - as she's the dirty one in the family - and me to join the London Philarmonic Orchestra and we'll be sorted.

Bloody typical

Great.... The Length of time gig definately isn't happening. Bugger. However, we still had a great session with Steve on drums last night (Wez doing vocals for first time in ages) including a few runs through our newly finished track. We all like it. A lot. Very intense. Roll on completing the next one!

Better news is that the Alienistic/KBY gig in July (20th, I think) at the Monarch is almost certainly on, barring acts of god, etc. Bands will be Sloth, Lozek, Capricorns, Inner Rage, Blood Island Raiders and us! Six bands playing short (20ish +/- mins) sets so it'll be pretty insane! Can't wait.

Later pertaters.

UPCOMING GIGS!!
Posted by Hairy Chris on Mon, 14 Apr 2003 5:55pm

Woo! Indeed - we now have something to look forwards to. We have 3 (probably) gigs upcoming. Still no sign of Mario, so we'll need more ringer action, but it's worked OK so far. Details (As I know them) are:

Sun 18 May - Camden Underworld supporting Length of Time & My War. Details TBC.

Tues 10 June - Islington Hope & Anchor. On stage 8:15 £4 w/flyer. Expect comedy stage show.

Sun ?? July - Camden Monarch with Sloth, Lozek, Inner Rage, & etc. Details TBC.

YES!!! Length of Time! Big ups to Doyle of My War for that one. :-D

Built by ninjas. Played by retards.

Yeah, business as usual... Wez got knocked off his bike last week (deja vu, anyone?) but that hasn't stopped us from starting writing a NEW new song, as we've finished a new one sans vocals. Up to 2:30 mins so far, with evil melodic bits & mad fast bits, so that's all good. It's pretty coherant as a tune too (unlike some of our other stuff) so we're pretty pleased up to now. We just need a drummer :-(

Caught Khang/Sloth/Firebird on Sunday. Much heaviness - been a while since I've been to the Monarch, but that was fun. Got Clutch/Spiritual Beggars tomorrow, so more weight there. Ah well, still at work so off I go.

Saturday was fun... I still feel ill
Posted by Hairy Chris on Mon, 31 Mar 2003 2:34pm

Yup, the first 'public' FoUR occurance since last August was a laugh. I think that coming on & playing a dodgy blues version of the Batman theme confused a few people... but with just 4 songs we had to add a bit of time to the set!

Respect is due to: Steve the ringer for helping out again on drums - blinder!, the other guys on the bill (worked pretty well, didn't it), Cherry & co. for organizing, and the Alienistic & 4 crews for their support (woo, yay, etc).

Can't wait until the next one. 7 months is too long a break...

GIG NEWS!! WOO!
Posted by Hairy Chris on Wed, 19 Mar 2003 6:36pm

Yes... It looks like we're playing at a party in Hackney on Saturday 28th March. We'll be first on at 10:30 - 11:00 pm ish...

Get in touch for more details, but I'll fill this in when I know more....

Oi Oi...
Posted by Hairy Chris on Wed, 5 Mar 2003 10:42am

I think that my brain's died. This work malarky is doing my head in.

ANYWAY.... What's new in the camp? Er, Mario's still out and about, but we've pretty much finished the music for our new tune. 4 minutes of madness which makes BFOD seem sane. We like it, but i'll be interesting to teach Mario the drums on it!

Roll on Thursday, where we'll start on another. Richie's already got some old school riffs going on, so we'll see how it goes. We're also going to decide on a plan of attack (literally, it seems) for the next year. Rookie - lunatic by appointment - has some ideas for stunts that'll see us either famous, in prison, or dead by the end of the summer. I can't wait... :-Z

Weird week, that one.
Posted by Hairy Chris on Fri, 14 Feb 2003 5:19pm

Don't know about you, but we've all had a strange time recently. At least we'd got over it for last night's rehearsal. New track is now up to 3 minutes long, and has some stupid riffs going on. As mentioned below, it's a bit heavy. Spot the blatant Slayer break in the middle! Enuff said.

Apart from that... had Nick from Inner Rage on drums Tuesday. RKS played insane double-kick style was interesting! Hopefully the next time we play with him we have a better time, we were all in a bad mood! It also looks like we'll be playing the cycle courier national's party in May, somewhere in East London, with the Blood Island Raiders (ooh aarrrr, etc). More to come.

Righty ho, back to work.

2003... Wooo, Yay, etc, etc.
Posted by Hairy Chris on Fri, 3 Jan 2003 3:04pm

Only 3 days into the new year, and writing already. Had a pretty constructive rehearsal yesterday and got some riffs down for a new tune. This includes one of the most blatant time & key changes of all time. Made us laugh, but it sounds nasty!

Anyway, one day we'll actually get around to updating the content on the site. I'm blaming Rich for this. Smirk.....

Who's that fat bloke...?
Posted by Hairy Chris on Tue, 24 Dec 2002 11:30am

Yup, it's Christmas. Great. Still at work, but I've got Merauder on just to get into the spirit. "Waaarrrrrgggghhhhh", to quote....

Anyway, we's doing jack until the new year (2003 can't come quickly enough) when we'll be trying to work out a plan of attack. Apart from writing riffs, that is.

Oh well. Enjoy this bout of consumerism and march towards obesity. Pah.
